Overby named County Administrator

January 19th, 2012

The Madison County Board of Supervisors have named David Overby as the new County Administrator. Overby is currently the Ridgeland City Clerk, but will take over his new duties with the county on Feb. 1.

Along with Overby supervisors named CPA Shelton Vancae as the county’s new Comptroller. They approved salaries of $105,000 for Overby and $86,000 for Vance.

The positions of county administrator and comptroller have been in flux since Donnie Caughman resigned as county administrator in late 2009. Then-comptroller Mark Houston was named and Deputy Comptroller Quandice Green was promoted to Comptroller.

Houston resigned from the position in April of 2010 to take a job in the private sector and was replaced by Planning and Zoning Administrator Brad Sellers.

A year later Green resigned at comptroller and supervisors hired Wallace Collins to replace her on an interim basis.

Sellers is expected to retain his position as Planning and Zoning Administrator.
