The Madison County Business League (MCBL) and the Madison County Economic Development Authority (MCEDA) hosted the 6th annual VISION Celebration on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. The luncheon was held at the Country Club of Jackson. Keynote speaker was the Honorable Phil Bryant, Governor of Mississippi. Miss Mississippi, Jasmine Murray, and the Raphael Semmes Jazz Ensemble entertained the guests. Nearly 400 Business League members, elected and appointed officials and guests attended the event.
The 112th Military Police Battalion of Canton presented our nation’s colors. The Honorable Mary Hawkins Butler led the guests in the pledge of allegiance to the American flag followed by the National Anthem being sung a cappella by Miss Mississippi Jasmine Murray. Danny Rutland, Baptist Health Services, offered the invocation.
The 2014 VISION Award was presented to St. Dominic Health Services, Inc. Claude Harbarger, President of St. Dominic Health Services, Inc. accepted the award from Donna Sims, president of BankPlus – Madison County Division, the 2013 Vision Award winner. The 2014 VISIONARY Leadership Award was presented to Dr. David Powe, Ed.D., by MCEDA Executive Director Tim Coursey.
MCBL Chairman Bob Williams presented outgoing director plaques to Jennifer Sinclair, James Pettis and Glen Silverman. Mr. Williams also presented the Past Chairman plaque to Dean Sherry Chance.
