JACKSON, Mississippi — Habitat for Humanity/Metro Jackson is absorbing a Madison County Habitat affiliate and changing its name to Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area

Executive Director Cindy Griffin says in a news release that changes mean the group will now work in a tri-county area that includes Hinds and Rankin counties.

The Madison County affiliate was initially chartered as the Canton affiliate in 1996. It was responsible for the building of 16 homes in the Canton area.

In 27 years, Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area has partnered with over 560 families to build homes in the Jackson metropolitan area.

Griffin says a “welcome to Madison County party” is being held in late September to raise funds for construction of new Habitat for Humanity homes there.
