Madison County Board of Supervisors President Gerald Steen announced today that the South Madison County Fire Protection District rating has been improved from Class Eight to a Class Seven.

Steen added, “Residents and businesses will now save hundreds of dollars on insurance premiums each year because the rating has been moved to a Class Seven.  This is a win, and will provide the area with more fire protection.”

The financial savings will depend on the value of the property and the insurance company.

Steen concluded, “This is a very important step in the right direction and is a result of both planning and a great deal of hard work over the past several years.  The South Madison Fire District Personnel, County Fire Coordinator, along with the Board of Supervisors, should be congratulated for a job well done.”

The fire department of South Madison County is volunteer and financially supported by both the County and the District. For more information on the South Madison County Fire Protection District, please call 601.856.1770.
