Madison County Administrator David Overby announced today that Madison County received a credit rating of Aa2, which is the highest rating of any county or city within the State of Mississippi. This is the same credit rating as the State of Mississippi.
Moody’s Credit Review analyzes economic climate, growth, financial and operational management, budget management, debt management, quality of elected officials and county management personnel.
In regards to Madison County, the review stated, “Sound financial management has resulted in a healthy fund (cash) balance and the County’s liquidity position is solid and its debt level remains moderate.”
Moody’s review continued, “The County has favorable operations and ongoing expenditure controls and conservative budgeting practices. We expect that the County will continue to operate with healthy financial operations and support fund (cash) balance levels similar to the stated target.”
County Administrator David Overby said, “From a qualified, respected and independent credit rating firm such as Moody’s, this rating demonstrates that the County is well-managed financially by a strong and focused group of Supervisors.”
Moody’s rating exemplifies hard-earned work the citizens of Madison County can be proud of.
