Network Expansion Brings Increased Xfinity and Comcast Business Services to Residents and Businesses

To Commemorate the Expansion, Comcast Hosted a Groundbreaking Ceremony with Madison County Officials

CANTON, Miss. – December 10, 2024 – Comcast is working to connect thousands of new homes and businesses in Madison County, Miss. to reliable, high-speed Internet by expanding its network to the region, enhancing digital infrastructure, promoting economic growth, and positioning residents and local businesses for success in an increasingly digital world. The network expansion brings Internet, mobile and security services from Xfinity and Comcast Business to residents and businesses for the first time. The project will be completed by the end of 2025 and the first several hundred residents will have services available by the end of 2024.

The expansion is made possible by a $4.8 million grant from Madison County, a $4.9 million grant from the State of Mississippi and a $7.6 million investment from Comcast.

“I want to welcome Comcast’s participation as the Internet Service Provider (ISP) and applaud Comcast’s continued focus on helping us build critical infrastructure needed to support residents and businesses in rural Mississippi,” said Paul Griffin, Madison County Supervisor, District 5. “Our joint efforts are a prime example of how all levels of government, along with private companies and non-profits, can effectively work together to close the digital divide quickly in Madison County and other counties around Mississippi.

To commemorate the start of the project, Comcast hosted a groundbreaking ceremony at Sulphur Springs Park in Canton with Madison County officials and community partners. Comcast also presented a $10,000 grant to the North Madison County Economic Development Council. The grant will fund a new mobile computer lab for students, small business owners and seniors to learn digital skills. The grant and groundbreaking ceremony are part of Project UP, Comcast’s $1 billion initiative to advance digital opportunity and economic mobility.

“We are grateful for Comcast and their generous donation in support of our new mobile computer lab,” said Dr. Pallascene Cole, Chair of the North Madison County Economic Development Council. “The Madison workforce relies heavily on digital adoption and skills training, and I can’t wait to provide this impactful resource to the community.”

A Network You Can Trust to be Reliable, Fast and Secure

Comcast’s state-of-the-art network is built to enable residents and businesses to thrive in today’s constantly connected world.
