MADISON — A new Starbucks and C Spire store that will be located off Highway 463 were among a host of commercial and residential plans approved by the Board of Aldermen on Tuesday. Aldermen unanimously approved a site plan for the project which entails over 5,000 square feet. The Starbucks will include a drive-thru. The building is on the current Baptist Medical Clinic property, a site that has seen exponential growth over the last year with construction of a new hotel and Primos Cafe. The board also approved architectural designs and issued a building permit for the expansion of St. Catherine’s Village Skilled Nursing Home, a project that has been in the works for months now. Fairfield subdivision will soon be getting a new entrance feature to the neighborhood following approval of a new entrance feature. Alan Hoops, Madison director of environment and design, said the old entrance feature needed so many repairs it would be easier to tear down the structure and build a new one. A site plan for a 2,000-square foot, two-story office building at the Fountains of Madison was approved, and city officials said there are currently no tenants signed on to the building. A preliminary plat for four new lots east of Annandale on Highway 463 at Mannsdale Bluff was also approved. In other city news: • The board accepted the oath of office for police officers Andrea M. Haywood and Chris A. Henderson. • The board removed an inoperable HP printer from the Community Development Department inventory. • The board approved purchase of city Christmas lighting to Christmas Done Bright. • The board approved Hoops to work with Charter Builders to develop a solution addressing modifications to the house currently being built on Lot 52 of the Eastwood subdivision. • The board removed a 42-inch Max Prop Industrial fan from the Police Department inventory due to it no longer being serviceable. • The board approved traffic signal repairs at Highway 463-Old Orchard Road and Old Canton Road-Main Street. • The board approved the re-subdivision of lots 4 and 5 at the Fountains of Madison, Part 1B.
