A unique environment for homeowners, shoppers, business people and visitors, The Township at Colony Park is an ever-growing community endeavor. “People are beginning to see the vision of The Township unfold,” said Clint Herring, president of the Kerioth Corporation, the company responsible for The Township’s creation.

The development, spread out over roughly 100 acres of land, covers 200,000 square feet of retail space, 200,000 square feet of office space, approximately 300 residential units, five restaurants, three hotels and multiple banks.

Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee said The Township has been a wonderful addition to the city and it continues to spur economic growth.

“The Township has been a very positive development in Ridgeland,” he said. “The concept has been well-received as a great mixed-use development has been good for the economy. I believe that it will continue to benefit the city as more of the new projects become reality.”

There are three major construction projects currently in progress at The Township. The Marriott Spring Hill Hotel, forecasted to open in October of 2013, will be an upper-end limited service hotel. “It has a high sensitivity to design,” explained Herring. The modern settings are intended to appeal to the traveler as well as those looking for recreational and leisure pursuits.

The Kerioth Corporation is also developing the site of Marriott’s new Town Place, a 94-room extended stay products for business visits ranging up to two weeks.

The final project in motion is the construction of a steel-framed building on Township grounds. “We’re leasing most of the space,” Herring explained. The first floor will become retail space for interested businesses, and Young-Wells Law Firm has already purchased the second floor of the building for office use.

All construction will be completed before December 2013.

“People like that Main Street feel,” Herring said, explaining the intention of the development’s pedestrian-friendly layout. Designed on the concept of new urbanism with the intention of providing a sense of place for the community, The Township is also intended to become a financial center and bring in retail dollars to better the local economy.

On the subject of future projects, he added, “We have four more commercial sites, and we have over 150 condominium units on the board.” Visitors should see signs of new construction within six or seven months.

“When people enjoy and relate to things, they last a long time,” Herring said.

He expects The Township to become a lasting piece of the community.

“This project combines all of the things that the Kerioth Corporation has done before at one spot.”
